Product FAQs
Product FAQs
What does Vitamin C contribute to in the body?
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a water-soluble vitamin that, according to EFSA, contributes to the normal function of the immune system, the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, and the protection of cells from oxidative stress. It is also essential for collagen synthesis, which is important for skin, bones, and blood vessels. As the body cannot produce Vitamin C on its own, it must be obtained through diet or supplementation.
How and when should I take Vitamin C capsules?
Vitamin C capsules can be taken at any time of day, preferably with a meal to reduce the risk of gastric irritation. For higher daily doses, splitting the dose across two or more times per day may improve absorption since the body's uptake becomes saturated at higher single doses.
How much Vitamin C should I take daily?
The European NRV for Vitamin C is 80 mg per day for adults. Many supplements contain higher doses — as Vitamin C is water-soluble, excess is excreted in urine. Doses above 2,000 mg per day can cause loose stools in some people. Follow the dosage guidance on the Naturecan label.
Are there any contraindications or interactions with Vitamin C?
People with kidney disease or haemochromatosis should take high-dose Vitamin C only under medical supervision. At standard supplementation doses, drug interactions are rare. If in doubt, consult a doctor or pharmacist before starting supplementation.
